Commissioners

Your five elected volunteers from the community each serve a four-year term as a Commissioner.

Lucy Temple
Lucy lives with her family on the Coal Mines Trail in Cle Elum. She and her family enjoy biking, kayaking, fishing, and camping together. A Kittitas County resident since 1996, Lucy holds multiple degrees and has a professional background in transportation, urban, and environmental planning. She is committed to reinventing the way KPRD1 represents and supports local and regional recreation by listening to all stakeholders and partnering with user groups and resource organizations. “I’m excited to participate in expanding recreational opportunities here in the county.”
Kent Verbeck

Kent has lived in the Nelson Siding Road area for nearly fifty years. He enjoys hiking, camping, and orienteering but during the ski season you’ll find him working at Summit at Snoqualmie Ski Area. Kent has been active in the community serving in various capacities: Scoutmaster, Roslyn Kiwanis, Fire District 7 Commissioner, and Kittitas County Hospital District 2 Manager. He also likes to garden at the Cle Elum Community Garden. “Recreation is a very important part of the upper Kittitas County area and I hope to help enhance that experience.”

Jennifer Hyatt

Jennifer is a lifelong resident of Cle Elum. She enjoys snowmobiling, hiking, boating, and jeeping with her husband and two daughters and uses those activities to help balance out the demands of owning and operating a local business. She is passionate about the community and dedicated to expanding recreational opportunities in Upper Kittitas County for everyone. “The natural beauty Upper Kittitas County has to offer is unparalleled; we have a responsibility to be wise stewards of our environment’s most valuable and irreplaceable asset.”

Ali Astrachan
Retired from the world of 3D computer graphics and global software program management, one of Ali’s greatest joys is being immersed in the beauty of nature. She enjoys working in the garden, hiking, camping, sketching, fitness training and exploring the magnificent beauty of Washington State with her husband Ira. “I am honored to serve the commission and dedicated to helping the community explore and appreciate the expansive recreational opportunities in Upper Kittitas County”.
Ira Astrachan
Ira moved to Suncadia with his wife Ali three years ago to be closer to nature and enjoy a four seasons lifestyle. Originally from Huntington Beach, CA, he is an aerospace engineer by training but enjoys a variety of artistic outlets including writing and photography. No stranger to service, Ira previously served in the US Air Force and recently retired as a Captain at Delta Air Lines holding various leadership positions both inside and outside aviation along the way. “I look forward to serving the community and to the opportunities that lie ahead of us here in Kittitas County!”
